Step I. Warm-up

1、Let students enjoy the song“Happy Birthday”.

2、Let students sing the song“Ten little paper rabbits” with actions.

3、Let students chant.

Step II. Presentation

1、 T: Now, I’d like to introduce my friend to you. She’s here. This is my friend, Sarah. (Teach: friend) Where’s your friend? (Greet with their friends, using “How are you?” when possible.)

2 T:Here is a birthday cake. (Teach: birthday, birthday cake .Ask them to pay attention to the pronunciation of “birthday”.)

T (Pointing to Sarah’s photo): The birthday cake is for Sarah. Let’s say: Happy Birthday to you, Sarah.

3、T: And here are the candles. Let’s count: One, two, three, four… nine. Sarah is nine. T( putting on Sarah’s headwear):I’m nine. How old are you?(你几岁了?) (Give the headwear to the students Let students one by one and let them answer with: “I’m…. ”.)

4、T: S1, now you are not Sarah. How old are you?

S1: I’….

T: And S2?

S1: (helped by teacher) How old are you?

S2: I’m….

Let students repeat as: old, how old, How old are you? (Teacher writes in on the board and let students compare with “How are you?”)

Step III. Practice

1、T: Now, show me the paper. (Let students take out the paper with a lucky number on it prepared by Teacher before class.) And show me one/ two/ three/ four…/ ten.

Ss: ….

2、T(Looking at eh own number on it):I’m nine. How old are you?

S3:(Taking out the paper with the lucky number on it) I’m ….

T(asking again until finding the student with the same lucky number): Oh, I’m nine , too. This is my friend. Now, class, show me nine. Stand up and say : I’m nine. (Let the other students who have “nine” do according to Teacher.)

3、Let some individual students do the dame as Teacher before class.

Step IV. Extension

T:Would you like to attend Sarah’s party with me? (想参加Sarah的生日party吗?)Let’s perform the dialogue first.(让我们先排练一下对话吧。)

1、Show the illustration on the text book by CA. Ask some questions as: Can you guess what they are talking about? (If they can say the main idea of the pictures, it’s OK.)

2、Repeat twice.

3、Practice and act the dialogue. Encourage them to bring forth new ideas.

Step V. Task

1、T:Now, let’s prepare some programs for the party.

2、Let them pay attention not to ask the foreign women’s age.

3、T: Now, let’s sing the birthday day song and go for the party with me.
