 Step1 Review

Play the guessing game: show the words card, Ss reading and T asks them: what’s missing? T hangs the picture cards on the blackboard.

 Step2 presentation

1.1)T asks them one by one: Is that a car? (far from the blackboard)

Ss: Yes, it is.

If not, T helps them to say: No it isn’t. (write down on the blackboard)

Practice the four words in the same way.

2) Magic eyes.

Show the picture and cover it with a piece of paper which with a hole on it. Students guess: Is that a bus?

S1: yes, it is.

T: Let’s see. Yes, you are right.

T: Is that a taxi?

S2: No, it isn’t. It’s a car.

1) T point and ask: point the thing near me: This is a pencil, Is this a pencil?

Ss: Yes, it is.

2) That is a pencil, is that a pencil box? (far from me)

Ss: No, it isn’t.

T does the model for the Ss, and let Ss say out the difference between the two sentences.

3) T stands as the same direction of the Ss and T points to the thing far distance from them and let Ss to say: Is that a taxi? Is that a car?

And T even asks the thing near them to say the sentence: Is this a…?

4) Ss ask teacher freely. (Is that… Is this…)

5) Ss work in pairs.

Guessing game may help them to enhance their listening ability. Ss feel proud when they get the key. The negative answer “No it isn’t.” Is not so difficult for them. But someone say “No, its isn’t.” When the Ss ask, their first response is “Is this a …?” Although they know the difference between this and that. They need do more practice .
