教材分析：
本模块教学内容，教会学生如何用英语询问并描述事物。掌握词汇：postcard,more,thousand,kilometre,million,语法知识是讲解be动词的用法。
学情分析：
六年级的学生已经有一定的英语基础和一些学习方法，在教学中创设贴近生活的情境，让学生进行语言交流与应用。以学生为主体，发展语言综合运用能力。
教学目标：
1.知识目标：通过听音和看音标及跟读等形式；能听说读写单词；能理解并运用How long（big） is...;tell me more（about）。。。;
2.能力目标；通过对单词和句型的学习和操练，能比较熟练的描述出身边的事物的大致情况（如高度和颜色及长度）
3.情感目标：培养爱国意识。

教学过程：
一、课前热身 Greeting:师生问候
师生进行问答式交流 What’s your name?How old are you ?What’s the date today?Tell me how old is your sister/brother/mother...Tell me more about your sister/brother/mother…多说几次more，告诉单词中文意思，体会句子意思。Where did you go on summer holiday?What did you do…？
二、课文导入 用英语谈谈暑假的生活，去了什么地方旅游？
展示长城图片
Have you gone to the Great Wall summer holiday?Is it interesting?
拿出长城的明信片。学习postcard，反复操练。
三、课文教学教学
知道长城有多长吗？ Question（ 事先写在小黑板上）How long is the great wall?Answer:It’s about six thousand seven hundred kilometres.
