Step 1: Free talk

(在上课前一天,先布置学生上网收集有关马来西亚、芬兰和澳大利亚三个国家的一些信息,并预习Culture1 Weather.)

T: Good morning, boys and girls.

Ss: Good morning, Miss Chen.

T: What’s the date today?

S: It’s December 9th.

T: What is the weather like today?

S: It’s sunny and windy.

T: What the season is it now?

S: It’s winter.

[评:由日常的英语问答与对话,创设英语语言环境,也为下面询问中国各城市的天气作了铺垫。]

T: Let’s see the weather of China. What’s the weather like in Beijing?

S: It’s cold and snowy.

T: Yes, how about Tianjing? Now the whole class make the question.

Ss: What’s the weather like in Tianjing?

S: It’s cloudy and cold.

T: Good. How about Shanghai? Let’s ask it together.

Ss: What’s the weather like in Shanghai?

S: It’s rainy.

T: How about Guangzhou?

S1: What’s the weather like in Guangzhou?

S2: It’s windy and rainy.

T: Any other?

S3: What’s the weather like in Hong Kong?

S4: It’s sunny and hot in Hong Kong.

[评:先由老师问北京的天气,叫学生1回答。接着引导全班学生问天津、上海的天气,分别由个别学生回答。然后放手让个别学生单独问,再由学生来回答。在此过程中,学生对询问天气的基本句型能得到充分操练和巩固。]

Step2: Presentation

T: This is the weather of China. What are Tony, Jenny and Gogo doing? Listen, they are talking about something.

(老师展示PPT,并且放录音)

【录音:New Year’s Day is coming. Jenny, Gogo and Tony are planning a trip. Gogo wants to go to Malaysia. Jenny wants to go to Australia. Tony wants to go to Finland. They want to know about the weather before going. Now they are surfing the Internet for information. 】

[评:让学生通过“听”来了解本堂课所创设的情境。同时也能培养学生的听力及抓关键词的习惯。]

Step3: Teach Finland

T: Do you know what information they have got about Finland and Malaysia? Let’s have a look.

(老师利用PPT展示一幅世界地图)

T: This is Finland. It’s a country of Europe。This is Malaysia. It’s a country of Asia.

[评:通过观看世界地图,让学生初步了解这两个国家的地理位置。]

T: Now, let’s see something about Finland. Please listen to it.

(利用PPT展示介绍芬兰的短文,并让学生一边看一边听录音。)

【录音:This is Finland. It’s a very cold country. In winter, It’s cold and snowy. People need heaters. But they don’t need air conditioners or fans.】

[评:让学生一边看着短文,一边听录音了解大概意思, 同时为接下来的新单词heater, air conditioner 的学习做初步的认知。]

T: This is Finland.

(学生和老师一起读短文,并学习新单词 heater, air conditioner, fan)

Ss: This is Finland.

T: “in”—[in], “fin” —[fin], “land”— [laend]。[finlaend]

[评:利用单词组成特点,在教新单词时,将其拆分,用学过的单词的发音帮助学生的发音与记忆,也在其中渗透了语音知识。]

[评:有问答的形式来检测学生对短文的理解程度,另一方面也可以培养学生的英语口头表达能力。]

T: What’s the weather like in Finland in winter ?

S: It’s cold and snowy .

T: What do people need there?

S: They need heaters.

T: Do people need air conditioners?

S: No, they don’t. They don’t need air conditioners or fans.

T: It’s cold in Finland, do you think Tony, Jenny and Gogo will go to Finland?

Ss: No.

T: What does Tony say?

(老师用PPT展示Tony所说的话:It’s too cold in Finland. I don’t like the cold weather. I like summer best. 学生和老师一起朗读这几句话。)

T: What season does Tony like best?

S: He likes summer best.

T: He likes summer best. So, he doesn’t want to go Finland. Jenny and Gogo say How about Malaysia? Let’s see something about Malaysia.

[评:让学生根据Tony 所说的话推测他们的计划,培养学生的逻辑推理能力。]

(学生一边看一边听介绍Malaysia的短文。)

Step4: Teach Malaysia

(用上面同样的方法介绍马来西亚。)

Step5: Teach Australia

T: Oh they get an email. The letter is from one of their friend Ann. What does Ann write in this email? Let’s see.

(老师利用PPT展示Ann的e-mail,学生和老师一起学习和朗读。)

【短文:Dear Friends, Come to Australia. It’s summer in Australia now. It’s sunny and hot. We use air conditioners or fans. We can go to the beach, and have fun there. Ann】

T: what is the season now in China?

Ss: It’s winter.

T: It’s winter. What’s the season now in Australia?

S: It’s summer in Australia now.

T:It’s winter in China now, but It’s summer in Australia. They’re different. So what’s the weather like in Australia?

S: It’s sunny and hot.

[评:通过中国和澳大利亚当前季节的比较,让学生自己总结出两个国家气候的差异。]

T: It’s sunny and hot. We use air conditioners or fans. What can you do?

S: We can go to the beach, and have fun there.

T: This is about Australia, do they want to go to there?

Ss: No.

Ss: Yes.

T: Why do you think they want to go there?

S: Because it’s sunny and hot, they can go to the beach, and have fun there.

T: I don’t think they want to go there, and I want to give them some suggestions. I’ve write a letter today。This is my suggestions.

(老师介绍New Zealand。)

Step6: Broaden the knowledge

T: Let’s see something about another country: New Zealand.

(T leads the Ss to look at the pictures and talk about New Zealand together.)

[评:由老师先做示范,能对后面学生开口介绍一个国家有正确有效的引导。]

T: This is my suggestion, what about your suggestions? Maybe you can give them some suggestions according to my hints.

(Ss practice talking about New Zealand.)

Step7: Summary

T: Today we have learnt something about three countries. Now let’s review.

(老师指着板书,用黑板上的表格,与学生一起总结这堂课所学的内容。)

T & Ss: This is Finland. It’s very cold in winter. People use heaters. This is Malaysia. It’s very hot. There are storms with thunders and lightning. People use air conditioner or fans. This is Australia. It’s sunny and hot. We can go to the beach and have fun there.
