PROCEDURES:

Getting ready
Bring in a variety of objects, e.g. a microscope for science, an English dictionary or paints for art and old pictures, books and maps for history, etc.
Write the school subjects across the top of the board.
T: do you like math? (Write 1+2=3 on the board.) I like math. It’s fun.
Continue with other regalia to introduce science, English, art and history.
Using the book
T: (point to the first picture.)Look at the picture.
T: what’s that? (point to jenny’s book.) [Ss: it’s a book.] That’s right. It’s her science book. (Point to the science materials in the classroom).
T: let’s listen to the tape. (Play the dialogue once.)
T: let’s listen again repeat.
Play the tape, pausing after each sentence to have Ss repeat.
