Step 1 Warming up

1. Greeting.

2. Listen and sing the song Old MacDonald.

Step 2 Presentation and drill

1. Game: Quick response.

2. Show the word card a lion.

Ss: What’s this in English, Miss Ou?

T: It’s a lion.

Show the picture, paste the card and picture on the board, guide to read word lion, a lion. It’s a lion.

3. Use the same method to teach words a dog, a monkey, a bird.

4. Game: Listen and pat words.

5. Elicit the sentence pattern You’re a lion/bird/dog/monkey/…

6. Listen to the tape of Part A, who can repeat it phrase by phrase.

7. Open books, listen, read and point.

Step 3 Practise

1. Create situation and make dialogues.

Situation: Bird and Lion meet in the big forest.

Lion: Good morning!

Bird: Good morning! Who are you?

Lion: Guess, please.

Bird: You’re a cat.

Lion: No. I’m not. ( do action and sound it.)

Bird: Are you a dog?

Lion: No.

Bird: You’re a lion.

Lion: Yes. I’m a lion. Nice to meet you!

Bird: Nice to meet you, too!
